Privacy policy

Zuliya is a private family archive. This policy explains what the app stores, who can see it, where it is kept, and how to remove it. It applies to the Zuliya mobile app.
1. Who we are
Zuliya is operated by the Zuliya project. For any privacy question or request, write to support@neesimera.com.
2. What we store
| Category | Details | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Your email address, display name if your provider shares it, and the identity provider you signed in with (Google or Apple). | To sign you in and show who made each change. |
| Family records | Names, sex or gender markers you enter, birth, marriage and death dates, places, relationships, notes, and photographs you add. | These are the archive — the content you create. |
| Membership | Which trees you belong to, your role in each, and invitations you send or accept. | To decide who may see and edit a tree. |
| Activity | Who added or changed a record, and when. | So a family can see how its archive was built and undo mistakes. |
| Technical | Standard server logs needed to run the service (for example, request time and errors). We do not run analytics, advertising, or cross-app tracking. | To keep the service working and secure. |
3. Who can see it
A tree is private. It is visible only to the people who have been given a role in it, and those roles decide what they can do:
- Owners can invite, remove, and change roles.
- Editors can add and change records.
- Viewers can read the tree but not change it.
Access is enforced in the database itself, not just in the app, so a removed member stops seeing the tree on their next sync, and the copy held on their device is deleted.
4. Where it is kept
Family records are stored in a Postgres database hosted by Supabase in the United Kingdom (London region), and are encrypted in transit. The app also keeps a copy on your own device so it works offline; that copy is in the app's private storage and is removed when you sign out, are removed from a tree, or uninstall the app.
5. Service providers
We use a small number of processors, and only for the purposes above:
- Supabase — database, file storage, and authentication.
- Google — sign-in, if you choose “Continue with Google”.
- Apple — sign-in, if you choose “Continue with Apple”.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.
6. Legal bases (UK/EU users)
We process account data to perform our contract with you (providing the service). We process family records on your instructions as the person who created them. We process technical logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure.
7. How long we keep it
Family records stay until you or another owner deletes them, or the tree is deleted. When a tree is deleted, its records and photographs are removed from the server. Account data stays until you ask us to delete the account. Server logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.
8. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by writing to support@neesimera.com. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to object to processing and to complain to your data protection authority.
9. Other people in your tree
A family archive is partly about other people. You may add records about relatives, including living ones. Please only add what your family would expect you to, and know that anyone you invite to the tree will see it. Notes you mark private are shown only to owners and editors of that tree.
10. Children
Zuliya is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. A child may of course appear in a family record added by an adult.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. Material changes will be announced in the app.
